Van Wijngaarden Marine Services has multiple positions available for Maroff with experience on workboats willing to work on our Tugs, Shoalbusters, Multicats and Multi Purpose Workboats.

About this position

The Senior Maritime Officer is part of the crew of our vessels and takes care of his watch on the bridge, takes the lead on deck and in the engine room. The Senior Maroff plays a crucial role in the operational process of our vessel and the development of the crew.

Your duties

  • Take the lead over a small team.
  • You have thorough knowledge of the safety system applicable on the vessel and you take full responsibility for the usage, application, monitoring and improvement of the safety system on board.
  • You are familiar with works on deck in case of towing and pushing, anchor handling, ploughing and dredging assistance. You take charge and coordinate the works on deck and working with the crane.
  • You are capable of manoeuvring the vessel in busy shipping waters and ports when under tow and when sailing independently.
  • As the key user of the Navigation equipment you understand the working principles of the equipment and are capable of solving issues and find the rout cause at failure.
  • You are on duty in the engine room and assess the functioning of the machinery, you can determine the malfunctioning of the equipment and find a solution to solve the issue. You coördinate activities of third parties on board of the vessel and check the results when they are finished.
  • You take responsibility for the maintenance management system (Marad).

  • Crew on board and in your watch
  • Customer project department on the day to day business and planning
  • Crewing department regarding work schedules and crew hanges
  • Operational department regarding vessel planning, daily and weekly reports on on and off-hire surveys
  • Technical department regarding ordering process, maintenance and technical issues
  • QHSE department regarding usage of the sms system, accident and incident related topics
  • DPA in case of major incidents
  • Directors on overall progress and wellfare

Your profile

  • Maroff diploma (Maritime Officer degree at a Dutch Nautical School)
  • STCW documents, COC
  • Multiple years of experience on workboats
  • Able to work under supervision and willing to supervise while working with instructions and procedures.
  • You contribute to a good working environment.
  • Able to give and receive feedback
  • Communication skills in both Dutch and English in writing and verbally.
  • Committed to safe working and promoting safety on board of the vessel
