Maroff/Mate DPO

Van Wijngaarden Marine Services has a position available for Maroff/Mate in possession of DPO Certificate, preferably with experience on workboats willing to work on our Tugs, Shoalbusters, Multicats and Multi Purpose Workboats.

About this position

The Maroff/Mate is part of the crew on board and takes care of his watch on the bridge, takes the lead on deck and as a Maroff in the engine room. The Maroff/Mate plays a crucial role in the operational process of the vessel and the development of the crew.

Your duties:

  • Lead and motivate a small team.
  • You have knowledge of the safety system applicable on the vessel regarding usage, application and monitoring of the safety system on board.
  • You are familiar with works on deck. You take charge and coordinate the works on deck and working with the crane.
  • You are capable of manoeuvring the vessel in when under tow and when sailing. You know how to manoeuvre the vessel in ports.
  • As the key user of the Navigation equipment you understand the working principles of the equipment and are capable of solving issues and determining the root malfunctioning cause.
  • The Maroff is on duty in the engine room and assesses the functioning of the machinery. You can determine the malfunctioning of equipment and find solutions to solve any issues.
  • You take responsibility for the maintenance management system (Marad).
  • You are DPO certified and know how to operate the system.

You communicate with:

  • Crew on board and in your watch.
  • Customer representatives on board and onshore.
  • Crew department regarding work schedules and crew changes.
  • Operational department regarding vessel planning as well as daily and weekly reports regarding on- and off-hire surveys.
  • Technical department regarding order processes, maintenance and technical issues.
  • QHSE department regarding usage of the SMS-system as well as accident and incident related topics.
  • DPA in case of major incidents.
  • Directors regarding overall progress and welfare.

Your profile:

  • Maroff (Maritime Officer degree at a Dutch Nautical School) or Mate diploma.
  • STCW documents, COC.
  • Multiple years of experience on contractors material or workboats.
  • Able to work under supervision and willing to supervise while working with instructions and procedures.
  • You contribute to a good working environment.
  • Able to give and receive feedback.
  • Writing and verbal communication skills in both Dutch and English.
  • Committed to safe working and promoting safety on board of the vessel.
