Crewing Coordinator

Van Wijngaarden Marine Services is looking for a Crewing Officer 32-40 hours per week, 5 working days per week, for its Hardinxveld-Giessendam office. With its extensive fleet of 16 vessels, Van Wijngaarden Marine Services offers worldwide maritime support to the dredging industry, renewable industry, offshore companies (oil & gas), seagoing and inland shipping. We provide towing services, transport, anchorhandling and survey work, among others.

About this position

The Crewing Officer is part of the operations team and takes care of the correct administration of the scheduled crew members on our ships, organizes travel for crew members to and from the ships and ensures timely communication with the relevant crew members. The Crewing Officer plays a crucial role in the operational processes of our company, can think in a solution-oriented way and is stress-resistant.

Your duties:

  • Process scheduled crew member changes.

  • Organizing trips for the crew members according to the scheduled crew member changes.

  • Apply and process visas and local permits for the crew members.

  • Managing the required certificates and documents of the crew members.

  • Provide solutions to personnel problems in case of unexpected absence.

  • Liaise with crewing agencies for hiring temporary staff as per the required skills and competencies.

  • Verifying invoices from crewing agencies and booked trips.

  • Assists in completing training needs for crew members in accordance with the development plan.

  • Rotates into the weekly and weekend shift schedule for operational staffing.

  • Communicates with crew members regarding their relief schedule and trip details.

  • Maintain close contact with other departments in the office.

  • Provides required reports regarding crewing and costs to management.

Your profile:

  • MBO/HBO education.
  • Work experience and affinity with the shipping industry.
  • Speaks the Dutch and English language fluently.
  • Takes responsibility, is focused on results and is proactive and structured.
  • Problem solving and is flexible.
  • Team player.
  • Communicates easily in word and writing.
  • Experience in an operational/crewing position in the shipping industry.
  • Knowledge of maritime requirements related to crewing.
  • Knowledge of legislation and requirements related to temporary workers or willingness to become proficient in them.
  • Thorough knowledge of MS Office.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally to the ships.
