During the last ten years, the ‘Inland shipping fleet’ of Van Wijngaarden Marine Services mainly kept busy with work in and around the home port in Hardinxveld and adjacent regions.
History
By deploying this ‘Inland shipping fleet’, Van Wijngaarden Marine Services was able to provide assistance to – amongst others –local shipyards and maritime service providers in the area. However, between 1974-1994 the VLIESTROOM for instance was also regularly rented out for a project in favour of dredgers or (maritime) construction companies. The image shows the ship working on the Belgian Maas, near Duchene. On the Yvoir-Dinant route, work was being done on a locks and weirs to keep the Maas easily navigable for shipping.
