1993 – LINGESTROOM
as an icebreaker
‘In the past, when everything was supposedly better. When winters were still winters’. No moving of anchors, sailing staff or adjustments of floating lines for a while. Being meaningful from the project’s point of view instead, in order to continue other shipping.
History
This meant that tug LINGESTROOM was optimally deployed as a multifunctional work vessel. It started working as a true icebreaker in the winter of 1992-1993 for the Evergem project on the Belgian waterway ‘Kanaal Gent-Brugge’. A tough job, given the ice thickness that skipper Verduijn presents us.
